Founded in 1998 as a specialist fabricator of pre-nailed frames and trusses, it is now into its third decade of serving merchants, builders, developers and owners in Auckland and the Waikato. Over that time it built a reputation for consistent product quality and for finely-grained customer service that matches a listen-first approach with flexibility and problem-solving.

After more than 20 years in the hands of its founder, IFT changed hands in July 2021. The new owner is James Murphy, a career business manager in the roofing, aluminium and steel sectors. With more than 30 years of corporate life under his belt, James was ready for a shift to a hands-on environment and he got stuck in straight away, investing in new technology and in developing IFT's team culture. Working out of a modern 1500m2 factory in Takanini, the team has a can-do ethos and there's plenty of room for individual team members to take responsibility in their roles.
What hasn't changed is IFT's personal style. Every customer, whether merchant, builder or owner, gets one-to-one service and every project receives the same high level of professional design and fabrication. The IFT team is small and nimble and that, says James, means customers get to talk to the boss and can expect quick answers.
